Frameless vs Standard Cubicle: What's Different?
A frameless shower cubicle replaces the surrounding aluminium or steel extrusion found on standard shower cubicles with thick tempered glass — typically 8 mm, 10 mm, or 12 mm — that carries its own load.
Standard enclosures use thinner 4–6 mm glass held rigid by a metal frame; remove the frame and that glass cannot stand alone. Frameless designs retain only minimal hardware: a pair of hinges, a single handle, and a small pivot bracket, all in marine-grade stainless steel. The result is clean lines with nothing interrupting the visual plane of the glass. In Dubai, where DEWA's desalinated water carries 500–700 mg/L of dissolved solids, eliminating the metal-to-grout channels common on framed shower cubicles also removes the mineral-trap points that cause the fastest visible degradation.
